“Essential oils” this term has been getting attention for a good time now. But have you done some research about the same? Well, I have been hearing many things about essential oils for a while now. So, I was thinking of trying out Tea Tree and Rosemary essential oils. Before that, I thought of quickly digging everything about this nicely marketed term and share with you all.
Here we go:
What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are a natural product extracted from a single plant. These are highly concentrated, volatile and non-sticky.
Essential oils are way more powerful than the dried herbs. So we should handle these with care.
Though it’s not necessary that every plant produces essential oil, these oils may found in specific parts of a plant as well i.e. fruit, leaves, roots, etc.
What is the use of Essential Oils?
For Plants- Plants who carries the goodness of essential oils also uses the same for themselves. These oils help the plants in wound healing, repelling and attracting insects and animals, infection and humidity control, etc.
For Us- There are many benefits of these oils. For an example- Tea tree essential oil is very good for acne-prone skin if used right for the concern.
Mostly, these are meant for treating skin problems, hair problems, soothing muscles, aromatherapies and overall for well being. As some of them smell so amazing which surely uplifts a person’s mood.
How to use Essential Oils?
These oils can be used in three basic ways which are inhaled, ingested or applied to the skin. When it comes to ingestion, you must discuss with an expert.
Some of the essential oils work best if inhaled i.e. Eucalyptus essential oil helps in removing the mucus from respiratory passages. So if you’re congested, add four-five drops of Eucalyptus oil in one quarter boiling water and take the steam.
Don’t forget to discuss with an expert before diving into inhalation and ingestion method for essential oils.
Coming to the third way, applying any essential oil directly on the skin is not recommended at all.
For example- if you want to use essential oil for a massage, you should follow the basic rule of one to five percent dilution. So if you are adding 4 drops of essential oil make sure you use 20 drops of a neutral plant-based oil which can work as a base i.e. olive oil, grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil, etc.
The thing to remember- As these oils are highly concentrated so make sure you use a few drops and dilute the same before actually using them. Dilution is key if you wanna indulge in these oils.
There are many types of essential oils which are loaded with multiple benefits, be it tea tree, rosemary, lavender, rose, turmeric or cedarwood. There are many options available so you can choose any of them as per your requirement.
So these are some basic things which we should know about when it comes to essential oils. Hope this post helped you guys 🙂
Until next time,
