Dark circles are a nightmare for everyone. No matter if the girls or boys getting those annoying dark under eyes, who likes to look tired and sick?
No one right?
But usually, we get those unwanted companions at some point of time and in that scene, we need to find out the reason behind it and the ways by which we can get rid of them.
So, here comes the first question-
Why we get the dark circles?
There can be multiple reasons such as oversleeping, lack of sleep, rubbing the eyes excessively, ageing, nasal allergies, excess sun exposure, internal weakness, genetic reasons, stress, poor diet, & long computers hours.
These are some prominent reasons for getting dark circles.
So, let’s get into some quick home remedies to deal with dark circles. Home remedies are always a plus because it does not cause any side effect unless you are being careless.
Argan oil: This oil is rich in vitamin E content and antioxidants. It’s very lightweight oil so it gets observed quickly. It heals the skin and restores the original glow. All you need to do is take little drops of the oil and apply it with the ring finger. Gently dab the oil on eyes.
You should use this oil before going to bed and do not rinse it off. Simply apply the oil on dark circles and go to bed. This oil is also good for the fine lines and wrinkles reduction.
Aloe vera gel: You should use aloe vera for treating dark circles only if you can use the fresh aloe leaf. Because the fresh aloe is way more effective than gels. Aloe helps in reducing the pigmentation and makes the skin hydrated and healthy.
To apply aloe for dark circles, you need to apply fresh aloe gel on under eyes and massage for few minutes. Now leave it for 10-15 minutes after that gently wipe it with damp cloth or cotton. Use this remedy every day twice, in the morning and before going to bed.
Coconut oil: Virgin coconut oil can do the wonders also. It helps in elevating the natural health of skin, to use coconut oil as a remedy apply few drops on eyes and gently massage it then leave overnight. It will leave the skin nourished & hydrated.
Castor oil: Make sure you use organic oil. Castor oil is the rich source of Vitamin E, minerals, proteins, and Omega 6 and 9 useful fatty acids. The high ricinoleic acid ratio of oil makes it beneficial to skin and hair. So it is perfect to use for treating dark circles.
Gently apply the oil around eyes, lightly massage it and leave overnight. It not only rejuvenates the skin but also makes the eyelashes grow. So applying castor oil for dark circles is a win-win remedy.
Tomatoes: Tomatoes has great bleaching properties and it can reduce the dark circles to the great extent if one use it religiously. The antioxidants in tomato diminish the dark pigmentation under the eye.
To use this remedy, mix the tomato juice with lemon juice and apply the mixture on the affected area. Be careful while applying, do not go close to the eyes. Leave the mixture for good 10 minutes then rinse it. Also, if you have a sensitive skin then mix rose water in the mixture. Do it twice a day until you get satisfactory results.
Cucumber: We all have seen the ads where models use cucumber with their face masks. It is because of the obvious reason, cucumber helps us in getting rid of dark circles. Cucumber is rich in antioxidants and minerals, these help in treating dark circles, reduces swelling, and eases puffiness.
To use cucumber remedy, cut the cucumber in thick slices and place that in the refrigerator because chilled cucumber works wonder. Now, place the slices on eyes and cover the whole affected area. Let them be on your eyes for good 10 minutes then wash your face with cool water. Use this remedy twice a day, before bed and in the morning.
Green tea bags: The green tea bags reduce swelling of eyes and tighten the skin around the eyes. The caffeine decreases puffiness by shrinking the blood vessels. The tannins in the tea treat puffy eyes and dark circle.
Just dip the tea bags in water and keep that in the refrigerator. The chilled tea bags treat dark chicks effectively. You can do this remedy once a day until you observe the remarkable results.
Rose water: Rosewater is the amazing source of antioxidants, Vitamin C, Carotene, Vitamin B Group and Vitamin K. It also has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anti-bacterial, and soothing properties. It also gets used as an astringent to make the skin look healthy, glowing, fresh and youthful.
Because of tons of beauty benefits rose water gets to use for treating dark circles also. Just soak two cotton pads in rose water and place them on eyes and sit back to relax. Leave that for 15 minutes and then wash your face with cold water. You can do this daily until you see the results. Also, this will relax your eyes a lot.
Olive oil: This oil is great for overall skin care, it contains the minerals and fatty acids which especially help in plump up the eyes and give dark circles a little glow. It comes with vitamin K which helps in normalize skin tone under the eyes.
Take few drops of extra virgin olive oil and massage it under the eyes. Leave it on overnight and do it daily before going to bed.
Potatoes: These are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, fibre and antioxidants. It nourishes the skin and also helps in getting rid of dark circles due to skin lightening properties.
To use potato for dark circles, grate the potato and extract the juice. Now soak the cotton pads in it and apply on the eyes while covering all the affected area. Leve it for 10 minutes and wash the face with cold water after that. You can use this remedy once or twice daily until you see the results.
Honey: It is loaded with antioxidants, antifungal and antibacterial properties. It nourishes the skin from within and fights free radicles which cause dark circles and wrinkles under the eyes.
Apply a sheer layer of honey on the under eye area and let it work. Leave this layer on for around 15 minutes then wash with water. Do this daily and see the results.
Turmeric: We all are aware of the skin lightening properties of turmeric. So when it comes to deal with dark circles, turmeric always do what it is meant for.
To use turmeric as the remedy, mix the turmeric with sweet almond oil and apply it on under eye area. Massage lightly with ring fingers for few minutes and let it sit on your eyes for 20 minutes, now gently wipe it off with moist cotton pad or cloth. Use this remedy thrice a week till you see the remarkable results.
These remedies work externally but we need to sort the dark circle problem from the inside out. In order to work on external and internal factors which are causing dark circles, we need to find out the reasons behind it. Only then we can get rid of dark circles effectively.
Meantime, long computer hours where you are just glued to computer screens without any breaks can lead to serious eye strain and which ultimately lead to some serious eye problems and even dark circles.
In such a scenario, you need to do some eye exercises to improve the blood circulation in the eye area & to relax the muscles around eyes for an internal improvement. Also, take a five-minute break in every half an hour and try to relax your eyes with these exercises.
Exercises to relax the eye strain:
->Rotate your eyes clockwise and counterclockwise.
->Look up and down. Look right and left.
->Spend a few time in the sunshine, after 4 pm and before 9 am to avoid tanning. It not only gives you the vitamin D but also helps in relieving the eye strain.
->You can try the eye spa, here you need a cloth (possibly a microfibre one as it holds more water.) and warm water. Now soak the cloth in warm water then lightly squeeze the cloth to extract the excess water (make sure you do not squeeze hard, the cloth should have the fair amount of water in it, no extra no less.)
Check the temperature of water on your hands first if it feels mild hot then you can put that eyes. After putting the cloth on your eyes just sit back, relax, and breathe slowly. Once the cloth cools down, just repeat the steps for 4 to 5 times. It’s way more relaxing friends, just give it shot once and figure out on your own how comforting it is.
