Face powders are an important makeup product. At the same time, it most probably confuses us too. With the ample variety available in the market, you must have given a thought that what is the difference between finishing powder, compact, HD powders, loose powder etc.
So, today to clear out all the doubts we will discuss the face powders in detail. Therefore, the next time when you will spend on the face powder, you would know the difference and reason.
First of all, it is necessary because it takes the all the unwanted shine from your face and gives you a matte, smooth creaseless & flawless look. In my earlier post where I have shared informative stuff about ‘Baking Makeup Technique’ face powder is the key factor of the trick. And trust me when I say face powder makes your makeup last longer.
Now, as you know the importance of face powder, let’s discuss the difference.
Translucent Powder:
These powder are meant for everyone. It literally suits every skin tone and blends beautifully. It mattifies the face and your face does not feel heavy at the same time. But, attention ladies! make sure you blend this product to perfection otherwise, you will going to look horrible in pictures. Because the bright camera flashes can capture the powdery surface which is not blended well.
Somewhat like this-
You don’t want that right? So make sure you blend the powder just like a perfectionist. Translucent Powder is a very good option if you use this right. You can use this powder as dry shampoo also to kill the frizz in hair.
Tinted Powders:
These are the same as Translucent Powder but it has some colour on it so these powders can provide you slightly even tone skin but you can not layer this product often as it may look like you have a lot of things on the face. Therefore, the right match for your skin tone plus the right amount of product and you are good to go.
Loose Powders:
These are made of the finest texture & gives a really lightweight coverage. Though these powders usually come in small jars that’s why it can be a messy process, these powders give the oh-so-amazingly smooth makeup finish.
Compact Powders:
These are pressed face powders which usually comes in different shades for multiple skin tones. The key ingredients of these powders are silicon and waxes. Usually, we apply these powders to set the foundation and concealer. But if we talk about the texture then compact powders have bigger particles compared to loose powder. Consequently, if you apply too much product then your face can look cakey.
Meantime, these powders are perfect for touch-ups and easy to carry in your handbag.
Setting Powder:
As the name says itself, this powder comes in use to set the base makeup. So that the foundation and concealers do not set in the creases and fine lines. It simply makes your makeup long lasting. You just need to dab the product lightly on areas where you can crease easily or gets oily often such as under-eyes and T-zone area. Do not rub the product, be gentle and do light swipes with the brush. (I recommend you to use a soft fluffy yet thick powder brush to apply powder and densely bristled kabuki brush to blend the product perfectly.)
Finishing Powder:
These powders are meant for the final touch-ups to blur your pores and fine lines. These powders give you a picture-perfect look, radiant complexion and add a subtle texture to your face. These are only required when you know that you will be going to be photographed a lot. Otherwise, you are good to go even if you don’t wear it.
Meantime, if you have ever heard about HD face powders then do not get confused my friends as HD powders are just finishing powders with a fancy name. These are meant of the people who work in front of the camera and bright lights quite often.
That’s it my friends. Meantime, I just have one advice for you all that no matter which product you are using foundation, concealer, face powders, eyeshadows etc. Blending is a key for the perfect & flawless makeup. So always blend the products to perfection!
