You may have listened a lot about the hair myths. And with utmost faith, you may be followed those pieces of advice also.
Well, have you ever tried to find the logic behind those hair myths?
If yes, then I am glad because you are the one who lives by facts, but if your answers are no, then don’t worry. Because I also used to be in this category who believes in some random hair myths, such as plucking greys will cause more and combing hair quite often leads to good hairs.
Yes, it’s pretty sad that I believed in these myths. 😔
But now I live by the facts. ☺
Meantime, I researched a lot about the hair myths and facts. And trust me when I say you do not need to go through various articles and videos as I am sharing all the important busted myths that you should know.
So, let’s get to these busted myths-
Myth: Plucking grey hair cause more.
Plucking the grey hair strands DO NOT cause more grey hair. Many experts advise that you should not pluck greys because plucking damages the natural texture of hair. Plucking greys regularly can cause permanent damage to the scalp and you can end up having small hairless spots.
And I can bet that you will choose the grey strands instead of small hairless spots on the scalp, don’t you?
Grey hairs are not a curse friends, many people flaunt grey hair like a pro. But if you still do not wanna let everyone see them, just cut that short and make a trip to a salon to make the greys look even in your choice of colour.
Myth: Split ends are repairable.
I think this is the most shallow myth ever that split ends can be repaired. There is only one way by which you can get rid of split ends and that is cutting them. Therefore, if you have split ends then make sure you get a trimming session. Say no to harsh chemicals which damages the outer protective layer of hair and cause you the split ends.
Myth: Hair colours only cause harm to hair.
Not every hair colour products work badly. Some colouring products which contains the least chemicals can add a plump to the hair and make them look healthy. But hair colours with harsh chemicals can harm hairs by weakening the strands and making the strand uneven and thin.
Try to avoid hair bleaching and colour which contains ammonia. Hence, go for the colours which have minimal chemicals and which do not harm your hairs and scalp.
Myth: Only dry scalp have the dandruff problem.
Dandruff is not a native of dry scalp. In fact, dandruff is caused by the microorganisms which require an oily scalp to develop. But you can kick those yeast-like organisms with the medicated shampoos. Make sure you wash your hair on alternate days if you have a really oily scalp.
Myth: You should switch shampoos often for a healthy hair.
Switching shampoo is a good thing but it’s not a must-do thing. It totally depends on your hair requirements. If you are feeling dandruff then choose a shampoo to deal with it. Likewise, if you want to get rid of frizz, opt for the shampoos which give you a fresh frizz-free hair.
It totally up to you if you are willing to change your shampoo, it’s not a hair care mantra for healthy locks. The only healthy hair mantra is paying attention to your hairs and choose products according to the requirements.
Switching shampoos for healthy strands is not important.
Myth: Cutting hairs promotes the hair growth.
How can cutting hair promote hair growth?? Like how? Why people even say that.
Cutting hairs only gives the hair a makeover and healthy look by which your hair look super healthy. Cutting hair DO NOT promote hair growth at all.
Myth: Combing hairs often makes them healthy.
Combing hair often does not make your hair healthy. In fact, if we comb our hair very often then it may damage our scalp and hair itself. Over-combing leads to weak, frizzy & damaged hair strands.
Myth: Ponytails and buns can cause the hair loss.
No, it does not cause hair loss until you are tying the ponytail and bun really tight. Only then you can suffer the hair loss. Because, it somehow damages the scalp. If you tie hair in a braid or bun, and it is paining then make sure you go for easy breezy hairstyles. As tight hairstyles can create tension on hair follicles which can cause permanent hair damage or loss.
Myth: More hair-fall is always a problem.
Hair-fall is not an issue if it is occurring unusually. Spring, Monsoon & Fall are the some of seasons, in which hair-fall increases rapidly, you tend to lose more than 100 hair strands in a day. But it is natural because, in this time period, the resting phase of hair follicles occurs. After the resting period, new hair starts to grow.
But if you are noticing the more loss of hairs that’s too for a quite long period then consult with a doctor.
Myth: Products increase the hair growth.
Products just can’t increase the hair growth process, so if the brands are telling you the same then its the time, you bid goodbye to those products and brands. The hair growth rate is a hereditary trait and normally it is 1cm per month. No cosmetic product can make your hair grow faster.
So, these are the most common hair myths, which you should not believe. Instead of that, you need to follow the facts. I hope this post helped you. If you have any queries regarding hair myths, you can comment down below, I would love to answer your queries.
